Mauritius is east of Madagascar, served by regular flights and a climate ranging from 20 to 32°C.
Calm, crystal-clear lagoons, palm-fringed beaches, verdant mountain peaks, an amazing choice of luxury hotels and an exotic mix of cultures and cuisine are just a small part of what Mauritius has to offer. So if you are looking for that special beach destination, Mauritius ticks every box.
As the very first hotel company on the island, Beachcomber had 'first pick' of the prime locations. All eight of their sites are designed to make the most of their magnificent surroundings, ensuring the perfect honeymoon.
Having their own hotels on the island means Beachcomber know Mauritius better than most and personally handle every aspect of your trip from initial enquiry with Abbotts Travel right through to your flight home. Personal service from start to finish.
Abbotts have picked three of their favourites to help shape the perfect honeymoon experience…
Widely respected as the best hotel on the island, Royal Palm enjoys an idyllic location in the north of the island on Grand Sable beach, a short walk from the lively fishing village of Grand Baie.
The hotel has had a recent upgrade to an exclusive retreat with just 69 luxurious Suites. Each of them overlooks tropical gardens on to the Indian Ocean.
If you are a foodie the hotel has a reputation, so you are in for a treat whichever of the three restaurants you choose. Le Bar Plage is one of our choices for lunch with its fabulous setting under a shady Badamier tree.
For the active there is a host of free land and water sports and a superb gym. The Clarins Spa is another must-see. But ultimately if relaxation is your goal, you are spoilt for choice – with three swimming pools and a secluded beach.
Dinarobin Hotel Golf & Spa
Set on the south west of the island on the stunning Le Morne Peninsula, this is another of Beachcomber's five-star hotels. The hotel is set on one of the most scenic shorelines in Mauritius enhanced by the dramatic backdrop of Le Morne Mountain.
The hotel offers all-suite accommodation set in colonial style residences arranged in secluded crescents with their own garden pools. Abbotts recommend the Club Suites which offer honeymooners a selection of extra facilities, including free drinks from the Club Lounge until 20:00.
There's over 5km of beach to explore and together with its sister hotel, Paradis Hotel & Golf Club, you'll have a choice of eight restaurants. For a romantic treat catch the boat from Paradis to La Ravanne for some delicious Mauritian cuisine.
The Clarins Spa is considered one of the island's best. The hotel also offers a couples massage on the beach followed by a healthy breakfast.
For the sporty there's golf, tennis, water skiing, paddle boarding, sailing, kite surfing, diving, fishing and more on offer.
Shandrani Resort & Spa
If you would prefer to arrive at your honeymoon hotel knowing that pretty much everything is paid for, then the superb all-inclusive package at Shandrani Resort & Spa is the place.
With champagne by the glass, internationally branded drinks and four restaurants, this offers one of the best packages on the island.
Three separate beaches are to be savoured, a lovely Clarins Spa and a variety of free land and water sports are on offer. The hotel is surrounded by Blue Bay Marine Park so we can recommend a snorkeling trip.
