When it comes to summer music festivals Essex is firmly on the map. Whether you want to bop along to cheesy pop acts of yesteryear, or shake your thing in a dance tent, we have a festival for you.
Here are four local events we believe will be the highlight of your summer…
8th – 10th July
BSTK Festival (formerly named Brownstock Festival) has fast become one of the UK’s most popular small festivals. See some of music’s biggest DJs and bands up-close and in a festival atmosphere rammed with personality and personal touches.
They were shortlisted for “Best Small Festival” by The UK Festival Awards in 2013 and 2014 and for “Best Dance Event” in 2015. Last year saw the 11th festival since they launched with 150 people in 2005. The popularity of the event has grown enormously and they now see over 6000 visitors.
The event organisers said: “We are super proud of our varied line up and entertainments across 6 stages, which we think makes sure Essex is firmly on the festival map. Beyond the main stage you can head to our huge Good Shed dance big top which has seen sets from some of the best DJs in the world. Meanwhile The Stumble Inn is strictly house music only. The rest of the festival is scattered with hand built areas and other entertainments.”
This year’s headliners are Mark Ronson, Tinie Tempah, Kelis and Annie Mac, with Katy B, Scouting for Girls and Wretch 32 adding to the incredible line up of artists plus many more amazing acts.
A standard weekend camping ticket costs just £89 or you can upgrade to VIP for £149, which is great value compared to other festivals of this quality.

The event attracts hoards of festival goers each and every year with numbers reaching 270.000.
Although originally a rock music festival, a wide range of musical genres are accepted; in recent years pop acts have become more common and this year the is no exception with a predominately pop line up.
This year marks the 21st birthday of the cross-country event and promises to be bigger and better than ever. The headline acts on the main stage this year are pop favourites Justin Bieber and Rihanna, as well as the likes of Faithless, Jess Glynne, Kaiser Chiefs, David Guetta, Sia, Example and Rita Ora performing throughout the weekend plus many more artists, and also comedians, who will be taking to the stage in the Glee Comedy Tent.
There are a variety of ticket options available from single day tickets to weekend tickets including camping ,or if you prefer not to do battle with an unruly tent and stand in miles of Porta-loo queues then you can upgrade to VIP or the luxury camping options. Coach travel to the event is also available from a variety of locations, provided by Big Green Coach company.
There are still some tickets available, however, please make sure you book through official ticket outlets listed on the website.
